Meet Jacob McDonald, the owner & full-time engineer at Density Studios

Jacob began his audio engineering journey at a young age in the suburbs of Milwaukee.  With a simple two channel Behringer mixer, a Shure microphone, and a bootlegged copy of Sony Acid (DAW) he began learning the art of recording. He became immediately obsessed with audio and the process of trying to capture sound in recordings. After countless hours writing and tracking covers and original material alike, he started several bands, and spent most of his free time recording them.  Jacob has been in the audio field for over 20 years, obsessing over getting good tones and creating pristine and catchy recordings.

Jacob holds a BFA in Guitar Performance with a focus in finger-style guitar form UW-Milwaukee.  He also studied Computers & Music as part of his degree in music, where he continued learning more about frequencies, sound design, and synthesis. At UW-Milwaukee, Jacob had access to their recording studio, which housed an original ARP 2500. As part of his education, he also completed an internship at Gravity Studios in Chicago, where he assisted during sessions and learned many additional recording, mixing, and mastering techniques.  Jacob is also a singer / songwriter who has had original compositions that were placed in rotation on radio stations such as 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, 91.7 WMSE, and 89.7 WUWM.
